Carrie has been baking sweets to delight crowds for over 25 years. In that time, she found that her signature recipes and artistic talent quickly developed an expanding clientele.To further pursue her passion for cake design, Carrie attended a series of premier cake classes, including classes taught by the famed Colette Peters, of Colette’s Cakes in New York City. Ultimately she began SweetPea Cakes and started working for the Public House Restaurants creating cakes for clients and signature desserts to complement their made-from-scratch menu. Today, as proprietress of the Crystal Lake cake & cupcake boutique, Carrie sets the standard in art, design, and creativity that her customers have grown to love. After graduating from Indiana University in 2010, joining the SweetPea Cakes team was an easy decision. Nickie’s first experience in the food industry was working at Ambrosia Patisserie while in high school. Helping around the kitchen wherever necessary begun her passion for delicious desserts. At SweetPea, Nickie’s creative side first came out being head baker and developing flavors for specialty cupcakes. Soon, working on fondant cakes with attention to detail became something else Nickie excelled at.
