Carrie J. Curie
As Head Cake Designer and Owner, Carrie has been baking sweets to delight crowds for over 23 years. In that time, she found that her signature recipes and artistic talent quickly developed an expanding clientele.To further pursue her passion for cake design, Carrie attended a series of premier cake classes, including classes taught by the famed Colette Peters, of Colette's Cakes in New York City. Ultimately she began SweetPea Cakes and started working for the Public House Restaurants creating cakes for clients and signature desserts to complement their made-from-scratch menu. Today, as proprietress of two couture cake & cupcake boutiques, Carrie sets the standard in art, design, and creativity that her customers have grown to love. Get to know her and her amazing team, and you'll quickly become a "Cake Snob".

Susan Koril
Sue started her love and passion for the food industry with her first job as a hostess.  Moving on to, server, bartender, assistant manager, she learned the skills in making people have a wonderful experience in dining out. As manager of SweetPea Cakes in Barrington, Sue now enjoys helping customers have a dessert experience worth remembering.  She is dedicated to making sure the quality and taste that SweetPea Cakes is known for comes through. From a first birthday, sweet sixteen, baby shower, and of course weddings, she works with people to create a fabulous and memorable dessert. Sue has lived in Barrington 20 years and walks to work everyday knowing she will make someone's day a little sweeter. 

Katelynn Cameron
Katelynn began her career in food at a young age. During high school she attended night cooking classes at her local community college and worked at a bar and grill as a line cook. She graduated from the Culinary Institute of America with an Associates in the Baking and Pastry Arts and a Bachelors in Baking and Pastry Arts Management. Katelynn found her creativity and passion for cake decorating within the walls of the C.I.A. During her time at the C.I.A. she interned with the Everest Room, downtown Chicago and worked for the Cocoa Bean in Geneva, IL.  After graduating she took a cake decorating position with Sweet Mandy B's in Lincoln Park, IL and eventually Central Continental Bakery in Mount Prospect, IL. Katelynn thrives on the ever evolving cake decorating world and all the joy it brings to people's most treasured occasions.

Nicole Flauter
After graduating from Indiana University in 2010, joining the SweetPea Cakes team was an easy decision. Nickie's first experience in the food industry was working at Ambrosia Patisserie while in high school.  Helping around the kitchen wherever necessary begun her passion for delicious desserts. At SweetPea, Nickie's creative side first came out being head baker and developing flavors for specialty cupcakes.  Soon, working on fondant cakes with attention to detail became something else Nickie excelled at. With a creative flare and natural love of all things cake, Nickie is a young talent that is developing at SweetPea every day.

Elizabeth Polerecky
Liz has always had a passion for excellent desserts. It was only a matter of time before it became her career. Liz attended The French Pastry School in downtown Chicago where she received her certification in the pastry arts. Liz developed her passion for baking and creating new recipes of her own during her time in school. While at the FPS,  Liz interned with Frontera Grill and Topolobampo (owned by celebrity chef Rick Bayless) in Chicago and Sweet Whimsy Pastry in Long Grove, IL. After graduating, she took a chocolatier position at Anna Shea Chocolates in South Barrington, IL. Liz loves to create new flavor combinations while honing her baking skills here at Sweet Pea Cakes.


Jen Uidl
Jen has always had a passion for baking and loves being a part of the team at SweetPea Cakes. Ever since she was a little girl, she has helped her mother with baking Swedish cakes and pastries. Wanting to take a hobby and make it more, Jen attended the ECC culinary program studying under top chefs from around the world.  With Jen's passion for perfecting and creating new and exciting recipes, it is always amazing to see and taste what creations she comes up with.

Karen Scobbie
Karen joined Sweet Pea Cakes fresh off an appearance on TLC's Ultimate Cake Off Swimsuit Spectacular episode where she assisted Mike Elder on his winning team of four.  She has been developing recipes and taking cake design to the next level for seven years and her specialty is making things people are passionate about out of sugar.  She has trained under the world famous sugar artist, Colette Peters and regularly attends classes and demonstrations given by the most accomplished cake designers and sugar artists in the country.  Her competion awards include:  Best in Show in the North Aurora River District Alliance Cake show April 11, 2010; 1st Place in the Wilton's 80th Anniversary Cake Decorating Competition June 21, 2008; and 1st Place in the Pastry Chicago Wedding Cake Decorating Competition March 7, 2007.
